I've never counted Tejas' non-AP title (AP is non-regional and least biased = for example the fact that Bammer claims like 18 titles or something is just total fantasy, nobody outside of the Bammer buys it, Sooners could claim just as much, doesn't make it true, the AP narrows the bias a lot).
But you are right now that I take the time to really think about it. Here's probably how an amended tier breakdown should look:
Elite Echelon Tier (all-time winning, AP titles, Heisman's, conference titles, most coaches wins, overall tradition/national respect & acclaim, etc.)
Oklahoma (no bias, honest!....but, as our SEC friends like to point out, #'s don't lie!)
Bammer
Notre Dame
USC
Ohio State
Nebraska
Highest Echelon Tier
Michigan (to my knowledge still has more wins all-time than Tejas....so they're on top)
Texas
Florida St.
Penn St.
Miami
High Echelon Tier
Florida
LSWhoo
Tennessee
Georgia
*the drop-off is considerable after these teams
Semi-High Echelon Tier
Who Cares.....yes I'm a college football tradition Snoot!
To be fair, when Texas got that 1970 title, it was given out in an era when the title was awarded before the bowl seasons. Bowl seasons were nothing more than rewards for a nice season. That's why Texas has every right to say they are 1970 champions as well. I would not put FSU at the same tier as Texas and Florida has more championships than FSU.
The only way Brown would be forced out is if he had a scandal with team .He is at that point now in this career with UT whose program is successful and he is well respected coach. UT can get some of the best young coaches just to have a chance of succeeding Brown its of that ranking in college programs now. A&Ms future with SEC is still to be determined and if the investgation going on is true; they could lose a very good quarterback.
Oh yes, everybody knows that Texas is still a desirable job. Probably the best job in the country. A Charlie Strong will ignite that program right back to the top. Even a Gary Patterson. Austin and UT recruits itself. The problem for Mack is 63-14, 65-13, 55-17, and 63-21. The latter being in back to back years. For a top program, losing is fine. Blown out repeatedly is unacceptable. Not to mention not winning the conference at least every 3 years or so. They haven't contended for the conference since 2009. He has no excuse to not do it this year.

I understand this about UT: richest athletic department in the US, quietest and laziest fans, and no championships since 2006 except men's swimming, men's golf, and women's volleyball.
UT fans are definitely NOT lazy. Yes, they're not as loud and rowdy on game day as I would like, but they travel as good as any fan base in the country and take a very serious and deep interest in the team and the inner workings of the athletic department. They paid for a banner and plane to fly over a game to get our offensive coordinator fired for Pete's sake!

They sure don't stay for the whole game - that east side sometimes is half empty in the 4th quarter. And they're pretty slow to fill up by the kickoff.

Kinda like A&M was before last season. lol
Yeah, that's another thing I hate. I guess beer and cocktails just can't wait, lol.
To be fair, though, UT rarely has marquee home games since OU is a neutral site game. The last big-time home game we had was in 2008 (some people count WVU last year, but seeing how that turned out...). I'm sure fans are sick of paying big bucks to see us take on BYU and Florida Atlantic.

You let Mack runs thing into the ground a couple more years that will solidify lazy.

Not sure how the athletic department and big money alum's love affair for mack reflects on the fans.
