Apparently it didn't help you a bit.

But I'm guessing you're one of the many that didn't actually attend the school.

I did. Twice actually. I also attended the UF game at Neyland in Meyer's first championship run.

You better switch this to women's basketball quick!

Neat. Apparently they've lowered their admissions standards.

And I don't watch women's basketball, nor do most UT fans.

You let me know when UT becomes and AAU school and a top 20 public. UT football has a better chance of being relevant again.

You should get into basketball(W) though. It is much more successful than Football/Basketball(M)/UT academics.

Unlike you, I don't change the channel just because my team is doing poorly. Women's basketball is boring.

I would still watch. I just would admit the sad reality of my program if they were not doing well.

I never said we were doing well. This is arguably our worst stretch in modern history (late 70s-early 80s would be another).

I don't think we're going to be "back" next year. I am not delusional. I know our program in general is a mess. Much of that is due to Mike Hamilton. It can't be reversed in a year or two.

I think basketball will be better, once everyone is used to playing under Martin, and once he gets a full team of his type of players. But I don't think we'll see the success we saw under Pearl with him.

I'm not a fan of the Butch Jones hire, but I'm willing to give him a chance. The post Fulmer trainwreck lowered this program to the point to where quality coaches aren't willing to take the risk and coming here. If Jones can at least bring some consistency, and not be totally inept like Dooley, then we can start to rebuild. Whether or not he is a long term coach is another question. Next year, I'm expecting 4-5 wins, based on what we lost. And that's assuming that Jones is capable of winning against all of the lower tier teams. 6 wins would honestly be a very good season. I can't reasonably expect anything beyond that.

Baseball is another sport that Hamilton ruined, when he fired Delmonico, who was at the very least, very consistent. I don't follow the baseball team nearly as much, though, so I have no idea if or when that program will be back.

SEC teams are typically cyclical with their success. They have good decades and bad. I do believe Tennessee will be back in the top group at some point. It's hard to say when. It won't be in the next two years, that's for sure. But I think if you look back at the history of the SEC, the top 6 teams (Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee) you would have a really hard time suggesting that one of them will "never" be elite again. Those 6 teams have repeatedly had highs and lows. Mostly highs. That's why they're in the top 6.

Lowered? That would mean a change. Haven't you seen how many criminals went through UF. Just last week a offensive lineman was an arrested for stealing a scooter. GTA.

You and Vols have a lot in common. You support inferior athletic programs and academic institutions. You both do at least have a chance in football to possibly be back on UF's current level though.

I think the turning point of the UT football program came about after getting blown out by an 7-6 Bama team in 2007 (who also lost to UL Monroe) 41-17. Its been downhill for UT ever since.

But UT will be back at some point, but its harder now since the rise of the South Carolina football program.
