I have 3 teams that are our Teams, all for different reasons:

top of the list: the HOGS. The good news, they are picked last in the SEC. Why is it good news? Well, because they can't disappoint. If the do come in last, they finish where they were predicted to finish and if they finish even one place higher, they did better than expected. We live and breath HOGS. Our granddaughter and her hubby graduated from U of A. and if granddaughter hadn't decided to go to AR we would never have ended up living here.

SDSU: Go Aztecs: We are both Aztecs alum. and we go back to the days when they rarely scored a touchdown.

Trojans: have always been my team. I was raised in Los Angeles and almost went to SC.

LSU Tigers. Bayou Bengals baby.

I gotta be real: I think our prospects for 2013 are kinda iffy. I'm not trying to make excuses or anything, but we've just had such major turnover over the past year on both offense and defense (esp. def). I'm sure a few will point out that Alabama and Oregon seem to reload, and I agree that they do -- that's why they're the elite teams in the nation. Anyway, my point is, I think the Tigers will be competitive against most teams, but I don't think this is a BCS bowl year for us. It might be another Chick-fil-A or Capital One bowl year.

Cautiously optimistic about 2014 and 15, though. I think if we can just get through this year and not have any major meltdowns, we'll be okay going forward. Even in down years, the recruiting under Miles has been exceptional, which is why the Tigers haven't had too many consecutive years without a major bowl win. We've been getting some pretty good recruits. Depth is starting to grow at the QB position, and while I'm careful not to anoint Cam Cameron as some kind of wizard, it could be that his handling of Zack Mettenberger and the reserves could be a step forward. Anything's better than that goof Studrawa.

Along with Nita I will say Go Aztecs! San Diego State University!

I enjoyed watching Johnnie Football last year with Texas A&M, so have a bet with my husband on them, but Johnnie seems to be in the news a little bit too much lately.

sa dave - love those photos!

Fan of LSU and the SEC, but I gotta say, I love the UTSA enthusiasm! We don't get enough info about the smaller schools, and the great thing about college ball - what really separates it from NFL - is that a school can have a 6-5 or 7-4 year, go to a New Orleans Bowl or something like it, and really energize the community.

This is only our 3rd season, but it will be a big step up in competition. We go on the road to Arizona and New Mexico, then open up at home with Oklahoma State then Houston. From there we play a conference schedule. I'm hoping we go to a bowl, but I'm not resting my hopes on it.

We love the dome for our football - its 72 degrees, clear skies and beer approved. You can drink at UTSA home games because the city owns the dome. Lots of Tex Mex at the tailgate and lots of fun on the river.

I think Oregon's a strong contender. I'm just not sure how they're going to do under the new coach. Chip Kelly leaving Oregon reminds me of Steve Jobs' leaving Apple, except that Kelly's still alive.

I definitely think that the SEC's reign is in jeopardy this year, but if I had to pick a team that could do it, my money might be on Stanford. Lots of talent coming back and they've got stability at the helm with Shaw. The position of QB's finally settled and a great, stifling defense.

It's just too damn bad that Oregon lost to Stanford last year. Too bad Alabama lost to A&M for that matter, too. Wanted to see Alabama v Oregon.

Other teams that could dethrone the SEC? Don't laugh, but I'm curious to see Texas Christian this year. The Cowboys Classic will be an interesting game, I think. Ohio State could be improved too. But that would be two years in a row going undefeated - pretty hard. FSU? Clemson? Okla State?
