To me, the bigger idiot than Kiffin was the AD at USC who hired this guy after one really mediocre year at Tennessee to fill one of the top 5 coaching positions in country. And then fired the guy five games into the season. Then has Ed Orgeron (ED ORGERON!) coach for the remainder of the season. Jeez. That guy was an abject failure at Ole Miss. What makes anyone think he'll do better at USC?
Pat Haden (current AD at USC) did not hire Kiffen. But Haden most certainly fired him.

Mike Garrett hired both Pete Carroll and Kiffin. Not sure how he could hire one winner and one huge loser.

I forgot about the change in AD. But I do think the timing of firing Kiffen five games in was just boneheaded.

I disagree. Firing him now gets the cancer out of the system. It also lets the CFB world know there is a job opening. It is early enough for recruits to see a positive change will occur.

Kiffen is a complete a-hole. USC may not play better the rest of the season. But from what I have read he lost his players weeks ago.

Truthfully, he probably should have been let go at the end of last season. But the timing in season was not going to get better than now. They have an open week to get used to a new coach.

I just read that Pat Haden said, "There is no perfect time to fire a coach." Well I say, it's about time he fired Lane Kiffin!!

Pete Carrol was an accident, no one thought he was a great hire when Garrett hired him. I know I didn't that is for sure. It turned out Carrol was a great hire, exceeding everyone's expectations.

He is better suited as a coordinator, not a HC.

Of course they arent. But they had to earn their way to the top. They dont have daddies that got them the job based on just being their sons. And if they have crappy performances like Kiffen theyll get fired and most likely wont get another high profile job like that for several more years.

I'm not sure what Sumlin and Shaw have to do with it. Kiffin was no doubt given golden opportunities with a questionable pedigree but surely Sumlin and Shaw are not the only 2 coaches who have had to prove them selves more so than Lane Kiffin. Kiffin is the exception to the rule, not the rule itself.
