There is a new college all-star game that will be held this year in Charleston, SC at the Citadel. It’s January 11th and will be attracting college players bound for the NFL. The coaches will be NFL coaches.
The team selection will be interesting. A player from a college will be assgined to a team representing either the AFC or the NFC based on the nearest NFL team. Rather than have north and south or east and west, a guy from Miami would be assigned to the AFC because of the Dolphins and a guy from the Tampa area could be assinged to the NFC because of the Bucs.
Money will be going to support the Medal of Honor Museum on the Yorktown at Patriots Point and the Wounded Warriors among others.
Game was played today. It attracted high level talent that was enough to bring over 100 NFL scouts. The players came because the NFL was there. There were guys that floew from their team's bowl game directly here to be a part of it. It was a great week of activities in support of the Medal of Honor Society and Museum and the Wounded Warrior Project. There are 79 living medal of honor winners and those that could make it were honored at the game. It was only by vote of these national heroes that the game was allowed to use the name. The trophy from the game will be stored in the Medal of Honnor Museum on the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC. A great event.
Certainly a chance to see some players who otherwise turn out to be the real pickups in draft from smaller schools;so it no wander the NFL scouts showed up.
