The one thing that is not fair is people giving Ohio State grief for Michigan not going for two... yet no one is giving Auburn grief for Saban not calling the hail mary.

That's because Ohio State has a serious perception issue right now. I think part of the skepticism about Ohio State is legit in terms of their soft schedule (Something that FSU shares, by the way). But I think the larger perception issue, one that is the elephant in the room that no one discusses, is the epic bedwettings that OSU had in its last two championship games. I realize that's not fair to the current coach and players, especially in the light of the Big10's complete deterioration as a conference. But the memory of Florida running wild on the Buckeyes followed by LSU putting them away in workmanlike fashion is lurking in the minds of college football fans everywhere. Yeah, I know that OSU beat a very good Miami in 2003, but those two games I mentioned truly rankle.
Y'all do realize that Auburn needed a hailmary to be UGA and just a wacky set of circumstances to beat Bama, right? They're a heartbeat away from being a 3-loss team.
What would Ohio State's record be if they were in the SEC or the Pac-12?? I don't think they would be undefeated in either league.
If they crush Alabama AND beat Mizzou comfortably, yes, but that's a mere fantasy. Alabama's the daddy here, and Auburn's gonna get taken to the tool shed.

And it took all of two years for Missouri, who was a dumpster fire their last year in the Big 12 and first year in the SEC, to be one win away from possibly playing for the national title.
I'd think Ohio State would be just fine in either the PAC-12 or SEC.
I don't see how Auburn can jump over Ohio State without them losing.
Auburn lost to a 3 loss LSU team. They needed a miracle play to beat an 8-4 Georgia team. Ohio State played 5 true away games, Auburn only played 4.
People should also not sleep on the fact that Ohio State is playing a very quality team in Michigan State for the Big Ten title. Beating them will only add to their resume.

I'm just surprised by it....
I thought the hate for the SEC was stronger than the desire to see a competitive Natty. i guess fans realize that OSU and Urban Meyer are overrated with the eye test. The only fans that want to see Ohio State are buckeye fans.
If they actually played even DECENT teams I wouldn't have a problem with it. When your second best win is against an 8-4 team out of the MAC, get out of here and enjoy the Rose Bowl!
The kids only have so much control over the teams they beat. So I don't fault them so much for that. However, when you play weak teams, I do expect you to beat them down. OSU gave up 41 points to Michigan, 34 points to Cal, 30 points to Northwestern and 35 points to Illinois. When you give up 34 points to Cal, you're really not ready for the big time.

OSU would offer a repeat of last year's championship game. FSU would destroy them. They have better athletes at virtually every position.
I think OSU should get their props for going undefeated and play a solid team like Stanford in the Rose Bowl. The most evenly matched game, imo, would be FSU/Bama and then FSU/Auburn.
But of course, no OSU fan thinks this way. Expect Facebook and C-D to be full of posts from OSU fans until they get pulverized by FSU on national television. Then they'll go quietly back into the woodwork just like Notre Dame fans did.
Here's a question: is this year's OSU team better than last year's ND team? I'm hoping the answer is "Yes."
