I guess things have a changed a bit now due to new 4 team playoff. You don't have to be as "perfect" as years past but how do we expect these teams to play their best every game. NFL teams don't play their best every game. Look at the NE Patriots. Got blown out by KC. Everyone said they were done. Now they are considered the best in AFC

If a top college team was blown out like how NE was, there would be no chance of them even sniffing a national championship.

They are kind of righting the ship now with 4 team playoff but with 2 losses, you are out of the chase.

I know it's all about money but I find it hard to expect teams to not miss a beat and play their best every weekend.

The NFL only has 16 teams per conference and 6 of them make the playoffs...therefore you can have off nights, and still easily make the playoffs. The NFL teams also play 16 games whereas college teams play 10 or 11 (they usually schedule a few easy wins...for example Alabama beat FAU 41-0 and their next game is against WCU who was given a 0% chance of winning). In college there's a lot more teams so it's harder to recover from off nights. Even if they expanded it to 8 teams making the playoffs, you'd probably still have 1 or 2 loss teams left out that claim they should be in. The way it looks now, there's going to be several 2 loss teams that are left out. If you're in a power conference and lose 0-1 games you're in....lose 2 and you better be praying.
