No, he is not right about the LHN. Dunno why other schools are afraid - nobody watches it.
I do believe Boren wants this thing (Big XII) to work. He's looking at the last 5-10 years of his presidency at OU and he doesn't want his legacy (he's really done a lot for the University) to be marred by the fact that OU was in a dying football conference and got played the fool in realignment.
Boren knows, just like other Southwestern institutions like Texas, that football steers (pun intended!) the ship and pays the bills. This possibility of getting out of the Big XII and joining the SEC West or PAC12South weighs heavy on Boren. And it should. His decision has implications for OU's revenue, national profile for years to come. (I personally don't see the B1G as a viable option for OU because of academics and the lack of contiguous states rule by the B1G...but heck realignment has been so crazy that an exception could be made for OU....would be the worst cultural fit for OU by far though. Myself with the majority of fans would want the B1G the least, but we may not have a say if the money is too good.)
As has been mentioned, the LHN is going to have to go away (and OU's personal network) or perhaps (plausibly?) be rolled into a Big XII Network. This would be the best option. Hope it works out for the Big XII, but I hardly trust any of the leadership of the Big XII (save Boren/Constiglione and a few others) to do what's best for the long term of the conference, not just make money now which seems to be the conference mantra, especially the smaller schools and Big Dog Tejas.

There is no contiguous states rule in the B1G. If they wanted to invite Oklahoma, they could have and would have. Down the road, maybe they would. The B1G has been pre-occupied with the east coast of late, Virginia and North Carolina are probably the two schools the B1G would most like to get if they could be got.

Yeh, I think the B1G will succeed on Virginia and whiff on North Carolina. I think the B1G will then go after Kansas and get them.
Yeah that's why I think if there is another realignment, Kansas is good to go. In fact, I can see the B1G inviting them. I also think the B1G misses Virginia unless they are tired of the North Carolina centric ACC.
I just don't know why the B1G would go after Kansas. They didn't invite Mizzou, who was practically begging for an invitation. The B1G grabbed Nebraska, then focused east. I still think that is what the B1G wants. East coast or nothing. No one is going to be putting a gun to the B1G's head telling them to take Kansas. I think Kansas would have to initiate that conversation with a lot of beseeching from Kansas.

What sets Mizzou apart from KU is that KU has one of the best basketball programs of all time. Behind UCLA, UK, North Carolina, and now Duke. KU is probably in that same tier TBH along with UCONN. The B1G wouldn't mind to have that. We're only saying the B1G may take KU if the Big 12 shows signs of breaking apart. Or maybe to even get OU and Texas.

So what you are saying is............if the Big XII crumbles and Kansas begs for an invite then the B1G might consider it. Which is what I said using different words in the post you responded to.
i would add UofH to expand the BigX(II) to the Houston market. beyond that a quality non-Texas school (I've heard before that the out of state schools dont want any more Texas schools added in an expansion).
