B10 has Ohio St, Purdue, Northwestern, Michigan, Penn St who are all known for putting out top notch students year after year. Most kids in the south cannot even get into these schools.

Kids coming out of Florida have issues because who wants to play for Miami or Florida right now? And once Winston the criminal is gone from FSU they will be back to a so so team so most kids in Florida will be looking elsewhere.
Generalize much? You are talking about the same Ohio State that tried to protect Maurice Clarett? The same team Jim Tressel allowed to trade tattoos (of all things) for OSU trinkets? These guys would surely have chosen an Ivy school because they are so smart?

You think the B10 schools don't apply different admissions standards to its football players?

Well, it's official. We've heard about it for weeks when the Niners were trying to make the playoffs, and now it is a reality. Jim Harbaugh has chosen to go to Michigan, back to the college game, back to his alma mater. He looked incredibly happy, right at home. Best of luck to him.

I predict that Michigan will get better under Harbaugh, but consistently fail to beat teams headed by coaches who are of the same vein as Pete Carroll and John Harbaugh. It will be interesting to watch. Those coaches whom Harbaugh can't beat, will be prime candidates to head NFL teams - the next generation of great NFL coaches. Jim Harbaugh will make a great deal of money getting the Michigan program some respectability, but he will always be a coach who comes up short because of his rigidity and limitations.

Old news about a football coach who's been out of the game for 4 seasons. There's a new sheriff in Columbus now. Tressel micromanaged his offense and recruiting, which created a blind spot where his players personal lives were concerned. Urban delegates the playcalling, and puts considerable effort into the behavior of his players. He strives to create a "close" team (his word) that looks out for each other.

You think the B10 schools don't apply different admissions standards to its football players?
You are picking 2 cases when it is clear Ohio St is not only one of the best if not the best college in America, the largest college and people from all around the world come to Ohio St for their education.

Clarett was an issue, all schools have those. Look at Jamies Winston, clearly he raped a girl and the school used their influence to protect him. Then he steals right out of a super market and nothing happens. At Ohio St none of those guys did a single thing ILLEGAL like Winston did.

Lots of colleges have far worst then selling trinkets. Go look at the U, Miami, college of criminals and their history of players. USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Boston College, Syracuse, Notre Dame and many others have canned players for multiple illegal laws they broke.

What did Clarett do that was illegal?

You are talking about a current team that Urban Meyer canned a senior and very good player for not following simple team rules. Yet you did not mention Winston who did steal, did rape and yet got away with it so far.

Something tells me if Fla St wins it all, which is unlikely because 3 teams are better that are playing, they will have to vacate the trophy because Winston will be found guilty AFTER the season because Fla St protected this criminal using their influence to do so.

Keep on hating, they are going to win a title soon and B10 schools by far have multiple schools who are among the best schools in the USA period.

Try getting into Ohio St, Northwestern, Purdue, Michigan, Penn St with poor schooling and grades. Ohio St already stopped trying to recruit two kids from Florida because the HS lied about their SAT scores and GPAs and the school found them to be both below 2.0 gpas and Ohio St passed on them because if the kid can play football and cannot spell his own name what is the use of having him on your team. They both will end up in the ACC, SEC or B12.

Thank you!!

Finally someone gets it.

Tressel sucked as a coach, never liked him.

He left Meyer dry and now he has a great group of young players who are doing well.

Do not forget, they lost 5 starters before the season started due to injuries.

And if Braxton Miller comes back you wont ever see or hear this again, no school ever can say they have two QBs who will be mentioned on the top of the list of Heisman candidates in Miller and Barrett.

Meyer has a major job coming up, Miller would have won the Heisman had he played and Barrett got votes for the Heisman this year. Now you have a third stringer who would start at 7 of the top 10 teams easily.

Ohio St is loaded with young talented players.

Hard to believe they are in the playoffs with a very young team, players injured and not playing and still destroyed a No 2 ranked defense in Wisconsin with a 3rd string QB.

I am happy they are even here in the playoffs, no one thought they had a shot at all.

So glad Tressel is gone, he was horrible, conservative and cost them plenty of games with mistakes.

What did Jim Tresses ever do as a coach?... other than winning FOUR Div. I-AA Championships and SIX Big Ten Championships in TEN years.

Other than that, not much else.

The schools and the coaches enrich themselves off the backs of the players. Why should a coach take home $8 million and the players only get a scholarship which they don't care about. They want to see some of that money too.

@MB86

Its obvious that most on CDF are obsessed with big ten, sec, big 12, acc football. Yes ohio st has a young team, but they are also not the only team stacked with high caliber, young talent. I see Oregon also fits that mold.

What college coaches are you referring to? I think there will be much improvement going forward. He's already putting together an amazing staff. Onward and upward.
