their biggest problem is strength of schedule. SC is 3-8 and just lost to Citidel. UNC's biggest win came against 8-3 Pitt. They did blow out Duke and Miami, but had close games with GT and VT. They also beat two FCS teams.
Even with a win over Clemson, should UNC jump them in the polls? Clemson beat FSU and ND. They will also have a chance to beat SC....the team that beat NC! I would say Clemson stays ranked ahead of UNC unless the Tarheels blow them out by 25+ in an uncompetive game.
If Clemson beats UNC, they're clearly the number 1 in the playoff. If UNC wins, IDK. Just saw OKlahoma State lost. This season is nuts.
Alabama is still my front runner to win it all, just watching them. They just seem to be a level above everyone else physically. I just don't see a Clemson or Oklahoma State being able to control the line of scrimmage against them on either side of the ball effectively enough to beat them.

Bama hasn't faced at team with a great offense this year. Ole Miss was the best offense they've seen and they lost the game.

Obviously we have at least two too many bowls.
The bowls are a joke. There should only be 20 of them to make getting into a bowl game an accomplishment and you would also see good matchups across the board.
Looks like the Pac 12 is going to miss out this year on the playoffs. If Notre Dame manages to win out, then you'll also see the Big 12 also miss out.
Thats just pathetic, but then again Patterson has long been obsessed with Baylor. I bet he didn't have anything bad to say about Summer's dirty hit on Mayfield. But oh if you hit one of his players too hard you won't hear the end of it..

They've beaten 5 ranked teams, 3 of who were in the top 10, and they beat them all pretty badly. Call it what you want but that will matter when it comes to a playoff spot.

Bama beat Georgia, Texas A+M and LSU who time has proven were all overrated and have disappeared from the discussion long ago. Now they may turn out to be the best team when its all said and done but IMO up to this point there high ranking has come from past seasons performance and the the incestuous relationship involving the SEC, their network, ESPN and the CFP committee and the drive for ratings and dollars.
