I saw this today too, and was really intrigued. I wonder how this will all turn out. I would suspect that many of the players participating in the strike are on athletic scholarships. If they refuse to play, I'm sure that the university could revoke their scholarships as well. Good luck in the classroom boys

If they refuse to honor the terms of their scholarship, ie participate, then the scholarship should rightfully be terminated, as was mutually agreed upon acceptance. Scholarships, athletic and academic, all have conditions that must be met.

Of course, if the scholarships were terminated, that would gut the football program.

Gary Pinkel just became "Coach most receptive to the Miami or SC opening not named Rodriguez or Graham."

Because pulling scholarships of minority athletes would be an ideal way to handle them protesting racial injustice.

Don't forget the academic ones as well. A deal is deal.

Syracuse University had 10 black players boycott spring practice during 1970 and it pretty much ruined the program for more than a decade.

I'm sorry. Let me be clear. Whatever type of academic assistance, requires a commitment. In this case, the university, through whatever means, will pay the associated costs for an opportunity at a higher level of education, thus you play football on Saturdays ( or when directed ). This country was absolutely founded on contract principle and the ability to freely enter into such agreements. But that's for the political forum. They should announce their intention to transfer to protest such abhorrent conditions. But get that education.
