I still say he made a mistake calling the Timeout because he never got it back. Watson knows to spike the ball in that situation regardless so there would've been enough time left on the clock for a FG try. Since the refs added some time back to the clock, that timeout would've allowed them to take a shot at the EZ or at least get closer for another shot or a shorter FG.

Was it the Notre Dame game where he spiked the ball on 4th down?

There'd been problems in the past. It was prudent to take the TO in the moment. Perhaps not so much in hindsight.

Watching the replay, Watson did spike the ball with 6 seconds left as Swinney was calling the timeout simultaneously. Then the refs added 3 seconds back, enough time to take a shot in the end zone or middle of the field had they had a timeout left.

So he should not have called the timeout. Dabo panicked.

It was 3rd down vs. FSU.

But this was 1st down so Swinney didn't need to call a TO.

Meh.. Again.. I say in hindsight, you're right.

in the moment.. Knowing that they screwed up in a similar situation earlier in the season, the clock was running down, you didn't want the possibility of going away with no points (which happened anyway)..

It was not the WRONG call the make in the heat of the moment.

I think it was Kirk Cousins who spiked the ball on 4th down for Washington.. That's the one that I was confusing with the Notre Dame play.

I don't hate- I respect coach Saban and his program. They are the best, no doubt. I just root for underdogs, and new teams- is that okay?

I like underdogs too. But you're not going to sway the thoughts and feelings and expressions of an Alabama honk. An Alabama honk is like a New York Yankee Honk or a Pittsburgh Steelers Honk.

Oh, I'm sure that a few actual posters from here actually live/have lived in Alabama or have even attended that fine university and/or even played football for that fine organization ..., like Forrest Gump!

But, what an easy bandwagon to latch onto.

Sure it is. But the way you said it just then is different than being "sick" of them.
