Finally, a team with commitment to excellence commits! After defeating Michigan last September and after completing their 3rd straight national championship via a playoff system, App State found their reward was to be turned down by virtually every D1 team when trying to flesh-out their 2008 schedule.

Serious Kudos to the Tigers for stepping up and booking App State in Baton Rouge on Labor Day weekend! That'll be a HUGE promotional opportunity, defending National Champion versus defending National Champion.

Go Apps!

This'll be a lot of fun. I have a feeling we (I'm an App alum) might get beaten up, but we'll have a great time along the way. Michigan didn't see us coming. LSU will.

Still, with Armanti Edwards, ASU has one of the best college QBs out there. They've got some great recruits coming in and a solid group of returners.

What a great time this is going to be! I'll likely make that trip and be in those stands rooting for the Mountaineers!

That's awesome! It very scary that all those big schools from App State after all these years we've heard about being podunk and everything else! Go Mountaineers!

1-AA teams have been pounding 1-A teams for years. It's just not widely reported when they do. Maybe it's because 1-AA actually crowns a national champion, and the 1-A champion is a fake champion.

Interpol, I agree with you, but I know this debate has been beaten to death. They have to find a way to set up a playoff in 1-A with keeping the bowl system intact. That way the money will still be there and everyone will be happy. If my buddies and I can figure out a good solution, why can't all the people who run the BCS come up with a way.

This is pretty cool. Hopefully Appalachian State will be able to defeat LSU just like it did Michigan.

I know Apps is a massive underdog again and no-longer a unknown to the bigger schools but LSU is vastly overatted this year, so while another upset is unlikely it could happen again fellas.

It would be great to see the Mountaineers win, their win over Michigan last year was one of the most exciting moments in my 43 years of watching sports!!

I loved seeing my alma mater nominated for an ESPY for that performance too! I know they didn't win but who would've thunk that little ole App State would be known all of the country? We were always the other ASU. Not anymore! Go Mountaineers!!!
