Who is this Sam Darnold guy? My eye test says he's pretty damn good.

Either of these teams would have been a better match up against Clemson. These guys are out here earning contracts. That one handed catch was ridiculous.

Penn state was the conference champion and they should have went to the play offs. They had 2 losses and 1 was out of conference. That one loss should not have counted against them.

There will not be a better Bowl game than the Rose Bowl unless the natty finishes on a last-second miracle. Mark my words.

and why should that loss not have counted against them ?

If you are in one of the power conferences , just go undefeated and you will be in the 4 team playoff.

Then you don't have to argue which losses should not be counted.

I will never accept the point that there is to much use of review of controversial plays (who wants a game turned over to the mentality of litigators?) but other than that, the Rose Bowl was well played, and no one had anything to apologize for. This was one occasion when Coach Franklin got a little too conservative, but St. JoePa did so himself on a couple occasions.

The real point, for this Penn State grad, is that the University's pride and tradition were rehabilitated by the students, the alumni, and
by the families who have sent multiple generations to play in Happy Valley. The traditions of understatement, of promoting from within, of respect for walk-ons, and of few changes in coaching personnel go all the way back to the Thirties. We'll be looking forward to next year.

1. McSorley's got Aaron Rodgers mobility, but doesn't have an Aaron Rodgers arm!

2. Sam Darnold's got NFL game! That NFL-style 11-yard slant pass, and that 27-yard throw over two Penn State safeties were sick!

3. Barkley is a reminder of Ray Rice! (on field, of course!)

They did.

It isn't my opinion, it is just a mathematical formula that awards points for each game based on the quality of the opponent and subtracts losses based on the quality of the opponent.

Obviously there are a few oddities as Penn St. still being ahead of USC, and also Colorado is at 13 while Oklahoma St. is at 14 although OK State just beat Colorado.

I still think they are pretty good rankings considering it is a very simple mathematical formula.
Not too much to argue over, except the couple of obvious head to head differences mentioned above.

If it were my opinion I'd rearrange 6-9 and put USC at 6, Penn at 7, Wisconsin 8, FSU 9.

Found this and thought it was interesting.

Western Michigan opens 2017 vs USC.

Safe to assume no 13-0 season for the Broncos next year?
