Alabama plays a lot of good defensive-oriented teams in the SEC, and it played a more offensive-oriented team in Washington, but it rarely plays a team that has both a potent defense and offense. Alabama's focus will be on shutting down Clemson's offense, but Clemson will have an easier time making Alabama's offense one-dimensional than vice versa, imo.
Which Alabama opponent (other than Clemson) was the most balanced last year? Was it Ole Miss, the team that actually beat Bama last year? I think so. Do you agree?

i like the fact that most of the experts are giving Clemson the nod because of a few players that they expect BAMA not to be able to stop .. even with BAMA favored it is giving us excellent motivation .. but of coarse if we do lose we will blame it on having a new OC ... HA !!

Well, it's good to have an excuse primed and ready, lol... One thing is for sure, Clemson will not walk into the stadium already defeated in their own minds like the vast majority of the teams that line up against Bama. I expect another great game.

I thought Clemson had the advantage over OSU because they had more ways to win. I think Clemson also has the advantage over OSU because it has more ways to win.
And the more balanced team won.

Alabama was touted for its defense all season, but its defense had only really been put to the test by a good passing team once (Ole Miss) and that resulted in 43 points being scored on them. Bama shuts down big-bodied SEC power running games with even bigger bodies. That's not so effective against proficient passing offenses, however.

Interesting article at ESPN on the sportsbooks..

Clemson Tigers' victory crushes Las Vegas sportsbooks

You would think they would have learned their lesson after last year. I thought that last year Clemson was considered bigger underdogs than they were, and many more people were surprised that they managed to hang with Alabama.

It seems like the only people shocked by them this year were the sportsbooks.

If I were a gambling man, I would have taken Clemson last year when they were 7 point underdogs and certainly would have taken them this year at 6.

2-3 points would have made me much more anxious about putting down money this year.

The loss of Bo Scarbrough hurt the game calling of Alabama. Hurts just wasn't ready for primetime. A lot of 3 and outs for Alabama meant a lot of offensive plays for Clemson

On another note, the best NFL prospect on the field that night was Mike Williams. Watson will be a "good" pro but Mike Williams has star written all over him.

people keep saying the bama defense got tired ..got tired .. i dont understand something about that .. does`nt the opposing offense also get tired .. they had 99 offensive plays on offense and bama had 99 plays on defense .. .. i actually went to bed when clemson went up 28 to 24 ... HA ,, i thought it was over then .. i`d be really mad if i`d seen bama go up 31 to 28 then still lose ... so many goofball callers on paul whinebaum show want to blame Jalen .. i lost what little respect i had for that show when paul agreed with most of them ...
