So you've got the freshman who "played" as Deshaun and we've got Deshaun (who you had no answer for last year). I think we'll stand pat...

I know that's my response to those who are using him as a focal point but my prediction still stands 30-17 Bama.

it will be Ok if Clemson wins keeping the trophy below the mason dixon line.. Dabo is a BAMA man ..Clemson needs to enjoy him while they can .. he will be BAMA`s next coach ...

It wouldn't make any sense for him to go to Alabama after the success they've already enjoyed under Saban. He would be considered a failure if he "only" won a championship every 4 years. Why do that to yourself if you can stay at Clemson and attain demi-god status?

My best guess is that a post-Saban Alabama will be similar to a post-Stallings Alabama. They will hit a lull like all other great programs (Florida, Miami, FSU, Nebraska, etc.).

Attain? Trust me.. He's already got it.

I concur with you.. He stays at Clemson. He's the best recruiter in the nation.. He gets alot more kudos for building up a fallen-to-mid-tier program to a Championship (well, pending on Monday's outcome, Championship Contending) team than going to Alabama and never being able to live up to the expectations.

The only way he winds up in Alabama is if he gets burned out and takes a few years off and then comes back and the job is open. He doesn't "leave" Clemson for anywhere.

Obviously.. We can't see the future.. Never know if the relationship sours.. But.. I'd be shocked.

Alabama is is home. When Saban retire in 4-5 years Alabama will be Dabos home. He doesn't need to be burned out or have a bad relationship to come back home.

Swinney signed a 6 year contract at about $5 million/year before this season.

It also has a $5 million buyout. So, if he wants to leave, he (or whoever hires him) has to pay $5 million.

That number decreases by $1 million every year after this year. So, $4 million in 2018 and so on.

I don't see Alabama paying him $5 million a year and paying a $5 million buyout.

Now, if we're talking Saban stays until his contract is up in 2022, which is the same time Dabo's contract is up.. I'd give slightly better odds, but not much.
