Week One is here!

Opponent // (FCS #2) James Madison, Dukes

Time: Saturday Aug 31 // 2:00 PM EST

Location: Mountaineer Field

Line // WVU 6.0

The buzz around the program right now is fairly high despite having lost all that we did off last years team. New HC Neal Brown has proven to be the real deal off the field. I haven't heard a single word of criticism about this man, and he has been a much better PR minded coach than Holgerson ever was. People understand that this years team will likely struggle. But we expect to progress as the season goes on (unlike Holgerson teams which seemed to get worse as the season went). Our goal is a bowl game and a quality win over a ranked team. If we can achieve that, then Neal Brown will likely receive Big 12 Coach of the Year!

James Madison is not sneaking in here under the cover of night to rob the EERs of a victory over an FCS. We know full and well that James Madison is an FBS killer type of program that has every intention on coming to Morgantown and stealing the W from a rebuilding WVU squad. They have not gone unnoticed, and therefore West Virginia will be prepared for a fight. We have a bunch of questions/concerns about what our team will look like. How will Austin Kendall look in his debut? How will the secondary look? Can the RBs break some runs against a stingy JMU defense? Although there is concern, I believe that we have the talent to overcome a thirsty Dukes squad.

My prediction:

West Virginia 30 (3 td/3 fg)
James Madison 17

Let's Gooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week One is in the books.

WVU 20 JMU 13

Talk about a gritty game. This was tougher than I was hoping for, but we knew going into this that James Madison was a killer! WVU escaped their own house with a win and a lot of work to do. Kendall progressed as the game went on, and so too did the defensive line. The biggest concern is the O-line and the running backs who were expected to be the strength of this team.
