I think there could have been some debate on the whether Georgia or Alabama was #3.

Personally, I think it's right the way it is, but.. I could argue that Georgia's loss to Auburn was far worse than Alabama's.

I still say it would have been better if Alabama was #3. I'd rather see a Clemson - Georgia and Oklahoma - Alabama semi-final.

I guess you hate the NCAA Basketball and Baseball tourneys also?

Georgia beat Auburn by 21 and Bama lost to Auburn the week earlier by 12. That'a the most direct and convincing common opponent argument one can make

Clear cut? This was again a toss up year.

Early Vegas picks...

Alabama 1-point favorite over Clemson

Oklahoma 3-point favorite over Ga.

Bama favored to win the NC.

The sad thing is that one more game fixes this. Take the top 8. You will have some whining from whomever ends up #9, but its not as if anyone is going to think the #9 team is someone to really worry about. Quarterfinals, semis, then finals, and all this BS is over with.

Completely different. A field of 64 is obviously broad enough to guarantee that all of the best teams will be able to compete for a national title. And even then, winning your conference tournament guarantees you a spot in the big dance. There's no such thing in college football since a team like UCF can go undefeated and not have the chance to play for a championship. It's virtually impossible for them to win it all.

If Alabama doesn't belong, then who does?
Right now, Vegas has Bama favored over top-ranked Clemson...and Vegas is usually on point.

Not really. What was a "toss-up"? Ohio State vs Alabama? because the media the last week or so suddenly decided it needed a talking point? The committee itself stated today that Alabama was "unequivocally" better throwing out the numbers- same criteria as last year when Ohio State made it over Penn State with the additional aspect that Penn State beat them head-to-head. This year may well be as easy as we see it again for quite some time.
