Doesn't matter, I agree. However, I did a double-take to learn Alabama is favored over Clemson, not to mention the favorite to win it all. That is stunning and hard for me to figure.

Given Bama's struggles on offense with Miss State and Auburn, I can't see them beating Clemson this year. Clemson has a better defense and they should be at full strength after 4 weeks off.

The committee didn't not seem to follow its own criteria when they accepted Alabama over Ohio State. I think that they should remove conference championship from their criteria and add 'eye test'.

My meaningless picks.
Clemson double-digit win over Bama.
The other game is harder to call.
I'll go with Ga. by a field goal.

A lot can change with a month of rest, practice and scouting.

All the drama to get in the playoffs will cause the players to focus harder. Alabama will beat Clemson by 21. Georgia will slow down Oklahoma and plus Mayfield will have the Heisman curse. Alabama and Georgia title game will be close, but Alabama still wins.
Clemson’s D is better than either the ‘15 or ‘16 squad, and Bama is not as good. Dabo has proven that he is at least as good as Saban at preparation for the big game. Bet against the Tigers at your own peril...

UCF had a great season but does anyone really believe they are one of the four best teams in FBS? Perhaps one day everyone who wants more than 4 teams in the CFP will realize that the playoff really starts in November during the regular season and continues through the conference championships...
