This is the official thread for discussion about and related to the 2017 college football season.

Coaches poll comes out on the 1st, AP on the 23rd i think.

For those of you who can't wait until late August for football to come back, there's always NFL preseason to fill you in until then.

I'm ready. Hook em' Horns! I pray to god we're a lot better this season. And with that, here's my preseason Top 25.

#1: Alabama
#2: USC
#3: Florida State
#4: Ohio State
#5: Penn State
#6: Clemson
#7: Washington
#8: Oklahoma State
#9: Michigan
#10: Louisville
#11: Wisconsin
#12: Auburn
#13: Miami
#14: LSU
#15: Florida
#16: Georgia
#17: Oklahoma
#18: Stanford
#19: Kansas State
#20: West Virginia
#21: Virginia Tech
#22: Tennessee
#23: Nebraska
#24: Washington State
#25: USF

You know, I'm excited about this year, but I refuse to make preseason predictions because they are always not just wrong, but seriously wrong. Teams that you think are going to be fantastic go into a tailspin, while teams that you thought would go nowhere become contenders.

It's hard to argue with any of your choices, mainly because they are kind of safe. I think Clemson falls further than 6th and LSU won't be in the top 20, but I might be smoking crack.

Well, Alabama opens against Florida State, so the top five will change drastically after game #1. Clemson has a better defense than last year, so we'll see.

Yeah, but they took some serious hits on offense. At least that's what I'm hoping since Auburn plays them in September. Oughta be a good game.

I'm expecting a good game also, definitely a week 2 highlight. We lost some great talent on offense for sure, but our recruiting ahs been strong so we'll see what happens...

FSU I think beats Alabama and ends up winning it all. Playing them game 1 helps. Francois wasnt bad last year and should take a step forward. 17 starters back.

I have FSU, Bama, OSU, and a darkhorse making the playoff. Oklahoma St? Stanford? 2nd SEC team? Penn St?

All right, y'all. Time for the first picks of the season. These are for the August 26th games, plus a Sunday game. Here they are below.

Oregon State vs. Colorado State
Hawaii vs. UMass
Chattanooga vs. Jacksonville State
(25) USF vs. San Jose State
Richmond vs. Sam Houston State

Here are my picks.
Oregon State vs. Colorado State (Tossup. While i expect Oregon State to improve this season, i think CSU takes this in a close one.)
Hawaii vs. UMass (Don't really care about either one, just a guess.)
Chattanooga vs. Jacksonville State (JSU's real good. And while Chattanooga's not bad either, they have a first year coach, their former one, Russ Huesman, left for Richmond.)
USF vs. San Jose State (I expect USF to rout the Spartans, as they have a mess that Ron Caragher left for them to clean up.)
Richmond vs. Sam Houston State (This is also a guess.)

So, uh...other than Portland State, i don't see Oregon State winning another game this season...hell, i don't even think they'll beat Cal.
