Searched the board for an existing Hogs team thread and didn't find one so.... let's do it!
2017 will be a critical year for the Porkers and especially Bret Bielema (his 5th year).
Reasons for optimism:
-Austin Allen is probably the best pro-style QB in the SEC
-The running backs (bolstered by transfer Williams from S.Car.) should be good
-O-line should be improved. C Frank Ragnow is one of the very best in the country
-The Razorback stadium expansion is taking shape. The previously open North endzone will be mostly bowled in. It will add about 5,000 club and premium seats when complete for the 2018 season and will take total capacity to 80,000
Concerns:
-2nd half chokes. It seems there have been a couple of games squandered each year under Bielema. Finishing out a game with a lead seems to be a problem. The Hogs lost a 24-7 lead to Mizzou and 24-0 lead against VA Tech to finish last season. If this continues to be a problem I think Bret might be on a very hot seat next year.
-Wide receivers are very inexperienced going into this season. Almost all production graduated or left. Most newcomers are small to average size.
-Defense. Haven't been good at all the last 2 years. Switch from 4-3 to a 3-4 this year couldn't make it any worse.
All that said.... Whole hog, half ham, Arkansas by damn!

Reason: adding a photo
Bret Bielema will need to coach the Razorbacks to a good winning season. Another eight-win or seven-win season with mediocre to bad play in the Southeastern Conference will not be good enough.
the one thing we all need to remember, he is in his 5th season meaning he has only been head coach for 4 years. His original recruits have only been around for a couple of years, maybe a few 3 years. Give it time, not to mention they are in, probably the top conference in the country. Of course we are all disappointed an last week sucked big time, but let's see how it all plays out.

Need to add, for all those who think he should go, his contract is a huge one; it would cost a fortune to buy him out. This week, lets' hope we have something to cheer about. It could happen. I would hope Bielema doesn't lay into an player in public like he did during the TCU game. I know emotions run high and he had reason to be pissed but he still needs to take his frustration out away from the public eye.

Good on you for starting the thread.
Being one who respects the SEC west, I would like to see them do well again.
I'm not a Bama honk. I'd personally like to see any other SEC West team besides them do it soon.
they did it and did it convincingly, So maybe they were playing a push over team but a win is a win
