I wouldn't be ready to hit the panic button on Jim Harbaugh yet...South Bend is a hard place to come out of with a victory. Hell, Georgia needed a field goal last season to beat them by 1 point. Not a good look for Jim, though, especially with his contract.

And it also appears last season was an anomaly, as BYU is back up to their usual shenanigans of beating teams better than them.

wow, some real blow outs yesterday, but I don't think it is time to get all excited about wins and loses. For the most part the games were the first of the season. Let's let some of these teams calm down. A couple of weeks from now we will have a really clear picture of what might lie ahead for the year.

Makes 17 straight on the road loses against ranked opponents for Michigan. They racked up a lot of penalties and injuries, and one ejection. If Michigan had played more clean, and avoided the injuries I think it could have been a more contentious game.

In Arizona...

Herm Edwards (ASU in Tempe) had a 49-7 outing against a usually decent, but in this case helpless UTSA team -- in their 8th year of existence. This will make Herm look good to his ex-ESPN peeps... and the media and fans are currently in awe, but will it continue? We'll see...

Kevin Sumlin and the Arizona Wildcats (UA in Tucson) took a loss ( 28-23), and did not have the expected result that most of the media and many fans wanted. However, I see it as a good non-conference loss, because I believe that Sumlin is training Khalil Tate into becoming more of a reader of defenses -- while in the pocket -- and running only as needed (he gained 14 yards). It shouldn't be about the media's or fans' expectations; Sumlin should continue mentoring Tate as needed.

The NAU Lumberjacks (from Flagstaff) also came out with a win over the hapless UTEP Miners (30-10).

In tonight's Miami U/ LSU game on ABC a butt kicking is taking place and Miami is providing the butt.

And LSU is getting the breaks--with a 54 yard field goal attempt hitting the crossbar and going over.

33-3 LSU with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Awesome games, including Penn State App State. I really enjoyed Auburn Washington and especially LSU kicking butt. College football is an amazing sport.
