OU and Texas may agree to jump, but they won't be in the SEC till 2025.
They will be in the SEC for the 2022 football season. Things are moving very fast.

Also, imagine SC and UGa signing off on Clemson joining. Not.

Might as well just come up with a national conference like English soccer and have the top tier schools play each other. Second tier do the same. Two bad years or two good years, you can move up or down.

Finally time to quit pretending that most of these schools are about amateur athletics.
This is what I meant to say, but you said it perfectly. An English premier league style competition pulling only the blue bloods of all the power 5 conferences. That's the final conclusion to all this. The only thing I would think unlikely is the idea of relegation and promotion. Losing too many of the blue bloods from the top league would be bad for business (Texas would have been relegated a while ago).

The fact is what's happening to the Big 12 right now is easily repeatable to the other conferences, and they are probably having sleepless nights right now. I mean think about it. Is the Big 10 still viable if Ohio State and Michigan leave? who's paying to watch the ACC football if Clemson, Florida State and Notre Dame bounce? On the flip side who cares about the ACC basketball if Duke and UNC leave?

I bet you in the near future, some billionaire is going to put this together and try and recruit all the top teams, just like what almost happened to European soccer recently.

Good, now get the ball rolling!

I think KU and ISU are going to the Big10 ASAP too.
OSU & Tech maybe to the PAC, WV to the ACC.
KSU, TCU & Baylor .... don’t know.... American Conference?

There are a number of valid reasons for Oklahoma and Texas to jump to the SEC. The new NIL rules for student athletes isn’t the least of them.

When Nick Saban came out and said his starting QB Bryce Young was already at 7-figures in NIL deals, that was a huge recruiting pitch to every single unsigned blue chip in the nation.

Bottomline, a top player in a super league like the SEC is going to command higher paying deals than those in the Big 12. Week in week out, multiple SEC games will be nationally showcased.

Imho, the Big 12 is toast. TT might be able to land in Pac12, WV to ACC, buy Baylor, TCU, OSU, and ISU are not a big enough nucleus to draw in other teams to form a major conference. They might be able to form a second tier conference and have maybe Tulsa, Houston, SMU, join. All in all, some teams like Kansas are done being a major college sports school.

TT isn’t good academically for the Pac12.

KU is a good university and great BB program. Someone will want them.

The rest are toast.

KU should be looking at the Big Ten. That would be the best fit for them.

I don't really see Clemson leaving the ACC. They are easily top dawg. They would be good in the SEC but not necessarily top dawg (they'd be in a 4-5 way battle with Bama, LSU, and Georgia/Auburn year in, year out).
As to the bottom paragraph: So? OU is top dawg in the big12 but they're leaving it. It's about money not conference championships.

As to the top paragaph: So? History means nothing right now. All the big-time power brokers are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

All true, but you can add recruiting to OU & UT’s reasons for leaving the Dinky Dozen.
