Jeremy Bloom was a player ahead of his time for what he meant to the overall aspect of college athletes and things outside their scholarship sport. One of my favorite non-FSU and Syracuse players of all time!
One hopes it's not true (it's been brewing all over social media); that there were misrepresentations and mishandling of funds and ticket sales at Jackson State.

Don't know for a fact but rumblings suggest it is true. Heck, Prime is familiar with HBCU's so he knew what he was getting into. Admin is set in their ways and not quick to change. In addition, Jackson, Miss isn't necessarily a desirable area. Him and his family's cars were broken into. All along, Prime was ready to leave at the first opportunity. $300k a year is a lot for Mississippi but for Prime that's chump change for all his efforts. That's why he didn't take the salary. First train, smoking, Prime is gone!
"According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Jackson State is set to hire T.C. Taylor as head coach. Taylor was the wide receivers coach on Sanders' staff and went to the school before he became a coach. Prior to this season, Taylor was the offensive coordinator under Sanders. He joined the coaching staff in 2019 after spending some time with North Carolina Central. He was the program's quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator from 2014-16. As a player, he played quarterback and wide receiver at Jackson State from 1998-01. "
Any details on his contract? Buyouts and the like?
While, if he does well there, a buyout is unlikely to be a prohibition for any of the teams that would try to bring him on.. I'm just curious what it might be.
Just found details on Coach Prime's contract with CU.
Sanders met with his JSU football team to tell them he was taking another job, to become head football coach at the University of Colorado. According to the Denver Post, Sanders was presented with an offer sheet on Dec. 5 that will pay him and his assistant coaches well. The contract is more extensive than the one he signed with Jackson State, which includes a $300,000 buyout Sanders owes to JSU. On Dec. 5, Sanders signed a $29.5 million contract for five years before bonuses and incentives.
Here is a breakdown of the rest of his contract, according to the Denver Post.
The contract has Sanders scheduled to earn $5.5 million in his first season, with a base pay of $500,000 supplemented by $1.75 million for radio, television, and public appearances; another $1.75 million for promotion and fundraising; and another $1.5 million for "development of the student-athlete."
That compensation would increase to $5.7 million in 2024, $5.9 million in 2025, $6.1 million in 2026, and $6.3 million in 2027. According to the Denver Post, it is the largest financial package ever given to a CU football coach, which athletic director Rick George confirmed Sunday. George admitted that CU does not have the money to pay Sanders yet.
Under the proposed agreement, Sanders would have a $5 million salary pool for his assistants and any support staff. The penalties are stiff should Sanders leave before the end of his contract. He would owe CU$ 15 million in liquidated damages if he leaves the school after the first year of his deal. Those damages drop to $10 million after his second year, $8 million after the third and $5 million after his fourth or final years.

Those are not steep penalties in this day and age. That is a drop in a bucket for a school to pay to get their coach if it is who they want.
Props to Trei Oliver and NC Central. They outplayed and outcoached Deion and Jackson State.
