Nevergoingback has got it-And a half!! Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas in the same backfield. Both of these great running backs went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I don't know if there is another combo out there that can make that claim. My guess is that there isn"t.
sanders, in my opinion is the best running back of all time. the only argument that auburn would have is that they had 3 running backs. the debate goes on!

How about 2, count 'em 2 Heisman Trophy winners in the same backfield: Charles White ('79) and Marcus Allen ('81)- USC- Student Body Right/Left!
Marcus was the epitome of a team player, blocking at fullback for White. He then started his junior year, and then crushed everyone his senior year to win the Heisman, the second in three years for the Tailback U.
Did Sanders and Thomas actually play together? I know they were at OK State for the 86 and 87 seasons but were they truly a tandem like Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown?
Just curious - I can't seem to remember. I blame the booze.
that was SMU right? what the hell happened to that program!?
they were a dirty program. Wasn't SMU the only team in NCAA history to be kicked out of the league? In the mid 80's, the stuff hit the fan for the SMU program.
However, the old Texas Longhorn teams in the 70s (Johnny Lam Jones) and the Oklahoma Sooners in the 80s (Jamele Holieway) had some GREAT wishbone offenses. Cant remember the names of the players but I know they were awesome.
they were good in college, but that entire team was a bust in the NFL. I don't even put them in the top in recent history. I think williams and brown were better, and jones and mcfadden were WAY better. but I have to agree that thomas and sanders probably smokes them all.
