Would you prefer everyone gets a participation ribbon instead?

Nope, if it ends in a 10 way or 20 way or 2 way tie, so what?

I think there should be a playoff with 16 teams. It would include the 11 conference champions plus 5 at-large teams.
I am tired of seeing mid-majors going undefeated and then having to play in Idaho bowl games. Meanwhile, BCS teams with 2 losses get into the national championship. With my playoff idea, every team in the country will be allowed to qualify for the national title.
Also, every team needs to join a conference and every conference needs to have a title game.

I have a brilliant idea.

Let's not even keep score.

Seriously, just put it on a running 90-minute clock, and then the game is over. That's it. If one team has more points or the teams are tied, who cares? Nobody would know the difference.

National Championship determined by the top 8 teams.

A secondary championship invitational that would allow all bowl games to still be played, but in a playoff format for teams that did not get to the top 8 to include other teams that had great seasons, but were not among the elite. Similar to the NIT in basketball. A "second championship" so to speak. It works well in basketball.

I know this is sports where you have a winner and loser. Enough of this everyone played so they shouldn't feel left out garbage

I'm starting to come around to that way of thinking. We're so obsessed with quantifying everything as the best. Everything is so ultracompetitive. It's the same mindset that insists we can't have tie games, ever, in any sport, for any reason. But this *is* still amateur sports we're talking about. In the end, it's really not that important. Fine, keep the bowl games, but the constant obsession with who's the undisputed #1 does get a little old.

I get the sarcasm, but it's misplaced. You can still enjoy a competitive game without focusing so much constant attention on who should be the #1 team in the country.

I know major College Football is supposed to be an "amateur" sport; but let's be real about it. It is rather naive to think major college football is truly an "amateur" sport. College football is a major, money making machine. People pay large amounts of money to go to games, run programs, and do all those under the table things that you would be a fool to not acknowledge goes on. Every other NCAA team sport has some type of national champion. If we can have the Frozen Four, College World Series, NCAA Basketball Tourney, NCAA Div 1-AA/FCS through Div III football tourney, and tourneys to crown national champs in volleyball, tennis, softball, lacrosse, etc. ; we can d*** sure have a clear national champion in Div. IA/fBS football.

There's a place for that too, and it's called "intramurals."
