What are your thoughts on Steve Sarkisian (O-Co) and Nick Holt (D-Co), who were both from USC, leaving to go to UW?

Im a UW fan, so I'm excited (who wouldn't be after Willingham) to see what these two can bring.

Also, I want some perspective from SoCal or USC people more specifically on their thoughts of Sarkisian and Holt respectively. I'm assuming alot of people are sour about Holt however leaving.

Wow, that's news to me. Isn't Holt a native of L.A.? That surprises me about Holt. UW football will be interesting. Let's see how good those guys really are.

They will do a good job, but not to the USC level of success. I know they will recruit like mad in the LA area. There familiar with the LA coaches and players.

Yeah, it's interesting that at first he declined the job. But I guess after the Rose Bowl, and being pursued once again by Sarkisian he realized he could have full control since Pete Caroll had the final word on things. I'm sure he's using it as a stepping stone to become a head coach elsewhere eventually.

Of course it won't be like night and day in a matter of a year, but they will recruit well in SoCal, especially the players who aren't quite at the calibre of USC. They're names alone will keep Washington prospects intruiged with UW.

Holt has some Puget Sound area ties, I think through his wife. I would bet that besides the barrel of cash we threw at him, high on the list of motivations is the opportunity to call his own D schemes and prove himself independently of Pete Carroll.

Tequila. While so far Sark and his growing staff are saying and doing the right things, I drank the Willingham coolaid years back and am now officially burned and skeptical. I will always root for UW, no matter what and no matter where, but rooting and believing are two different things. My stance is this: I will wait until 9/5/09 to start assessing the situation in New Sarkistan.

I don't expect us to beat LSU, but I do expect us to show up with better fundamentals, smarter playcalling and a meaner defense. While I don't accept losing, I can face losing provided we play four quarters of aggressive, no-quit football to the best of our abilities. In 2008 I don't think we did that very often. If we had, we probably would have won a game.
