HAve they figured out what they're gonna do about a stadium yet? Play at memorial? Build around the soccer field? I thought I heard recently they had to go to plan B due to not getting enough money up front???
Attended the University of New Mexico Lobos. Graduated '06.
Home is University Stadium (original, right?). Seats 40,000. Largest crowd ever is roughly 45,000 for the UNM/NM State game a few years back.
Future renovations/additions are planned, but are awaiting the economy to recover. These plans would add permanent seats to the south endzone that would mirror the north endzone (as pictured below) and make the capacity about 45,000.
The last picture (abovoe) does not show the south endzone bleachers that were added a few years ago. You get a pretty sweet shot of the Sandia Mountains in the background, though.
Currently, our most famous landmark - The Pit, is receiving a 60 million dollar renovation, so the football stadium had to take a back seat.
This year - we have a new coach. Former Illinois Offensive Coordinator. Mike Locksley. Football expectations are never extremely high here. Bowl games have become expected around here lately, but most expect a low-tier bowl game.
Now basketball, that's when the fans really get into it. The college football game experience is growing here, though.

don't think they'll be playing at Memorial unless some renovations are taken place. Memorial is a cool and historic stadium, and fans would be pretty close to the action, but I don't think it's suitable as it is for college ball. Kinda crowded concourses and would need new and more pressboxes. On the other hand tough, CPCC next door has some parking garages and there's some good resturants nearby, plus a new trolley system is supposed to be running next year down Elizabeth Ave. So transportation and food would be in good supply.
Memorial might work for the first year or two while a campus stadium would be built. We'll see

Located in Fort Worth, TX, TCU will be the closest to an NFL team Fort Worth will have (within the city limits, at least....).
The Frogs got shafted by the Big XII, giving that last spot to Baylor instead of TCU..... wow, look how successful that was.

Politics is the reason why TCU did not get in over Baylor. Same with Tech. Texas and Texas A&M had no choice but to take Baylor and Texas A&M. Besides, outside of Football, Baylor is not that bad of an athletic program.

Yeah it was always fun playing at memorial in high-school (went to Inpedendance so we always played either Butler or West Charlotte there)
I'm a University of Dayton grad; football is just a warmup for basketball season and/or an excuse to drink beer on a Saturday afternoon.
When the NCAA let us play Division III football, we played in five title games and won two (the 1980 Stagg Bowl victory parties ... those are three days I'll never get back, LOL). Now UD is I-AA, plays in the Pioneer League, and mows over the competition fairly regularly.
Notable football alum: Chuck Noll, Gerry Faust and Jon Gruden.

I've met a lot of girls from OH the past year at my new complex. Most went to OU or BG.
Have ya'll ever played Appalachain? They've been the 1-AA (FCS) king the past 1/2 decade or so. My team (ECU) actually plays them this week. Should be fun.
So the season is here. I guess Boise St is the first non-AQ team to get a chance this year.
Anyone thinking they will upset Oregon tomorrow night?
BSU is favored (-3 to -4.5), so it will be an upset if UO wins.
I'm pulling for BSU, and yes I do think that they will win.
And I think they will cover a -4.5.
