Agreed. They won't be running away with a championship in the first season but they could at least be .500. Boise State is the gatekeeper of that conference and the last few bowl games have proved that they are nothing more than a paper tiger. MT may not dominate the WAC but they could at least compete from day one and be one of the premier teams within several years. Boise State is the class of the WAC, but as I said, they can't beat anyone not named Oklahoma in the year 2006. There is decent teams in the WAC like Nevada and Fresno state, but it will easily be the easiest conference to enter as the bottom 3/4 of the conference is so weak.

Yeah agree with that there, that being said I think that Utah State is definantly on the up, theres tallk of Idaho being better, but then again every conference goes through periods like that.

If UDel and Nova wanted to, they could move up and compete basically right away. I hope they dont, though, because then they could take players that Temple is recruiting.

Same thing with Youngstown State, but they've never been the same since Tressel went to Ohio State.

Montana would be great. I remember there was a time that Florida A&M was going to jump up but had some trouble. Looks like North Dakota State would be good too, even though they just moved up.

Better to be a big fish in a smaller pond than the other way around.

Look up the financial obligations to stay in D1A (forget this FCS and FBS bullshiite) and see why some of those named schools should not go for payday games so soon...

The Hens probably sign better players now.

minnesota State, Mankato, my alma mater, should make the move so the Gophers would have an instate D-1 rival.

There are a lot of teams that have had some success immediately - Nevada, Marshall, etc. but then suffer a lot of growing pains as it becomes obvious that their facilities, while great for Div 1-AA are pretty inadequate for Div 1-A.

While Montana as been a solid 1-AA program, they would have difficulty being more than a mid-range team in the WAC conference for several years. Quite honestly, they would be far less dominant if they had to play in the Gateway conference.

As for joining the MWC, it will never happen. Membership in the MWC requires access to MAJOR media markets. That is why they preferred UNLV over Nevada and SDSU over UTEP. It is a big money move as they try to market their conference nationwide.
