Sure you can make an argument for Auburn, but OU didn't screw anyone that year, they were unbeaten.... now 2003, that might be a different story.
I'm talkin' the Sugar Bowl when you played (and lost to) the LSU Tigers.
USC was #1 but didn't go to the game. That's a screw job.

Yeah, the next year the BCS pulled the plug on the AP poll being a part of the BCS.

USC was #1 in the AP poll and #3 in the final BCS poll. LOL.

If the PAC10 had a CG, USC (if they won) would have been in the BCS CG game for sure.

I will admit that the BCS has been very kind to OU. It's not a perfect system by any stretch of the imagination. You can't really point the finger at a certain team saying that they screwed another team out of the CG. The BCS screwed them, not OU or LSU.

But really, who cares if USC gets screwed over every once in awhile?

Well I gotta admit, I do a agree to a certain extent. But still, it's an unfair system and we ALL know it needs to be changed. Even if the BCS supporters wont admit it.

When I think of Alabama, I think of Forest Gump rushing across the field on the kick off and the crowd yells S T O P!!!! I wont even remember this victory 5 years from this day...I guarantee it. Alabama played so poor, I say give the crystal football to Boise State, they ought to get something for having to play on that awful blue field all year long.

Maybe if Texas would have let the backup QB play more during some of their blow-out wins rather than letting McCoy pad his stats, they would not have been faced with the situation of bringing in a QB with very little experience.

v. ULM - 39 point win. Gilbert had 5 passes

v. Wyoming - 31 point win - Gilbert had 3 passes

v. UTEP - 57 point win - Gilbert had 6 passes

v. Colorado - 24 point win - Gilbert had 1 pass

v. Missouri - 34 point win - Gilbert had 3 passes

v. OSU - 27 point win - Gilbert had 2 passes

v. UCF - 32 point win - Gilbert had 0 passes

v. Baylor - 37 point win - Gilbert had 5 passes

v. Kansas - 31 point win - Gilbert had 1 pass.
---------------------------------------------
Gilbert had 26 passing plays called in 9 blow-out victories. So Texas let their backup QB average just under 3 passes a game while they were winnig their games by an average of 5 touchdowns. As I said, Texas got what they had coming to them.

well, I see your point I guess. I guess I agree that Texas got what they deserved, but I don't think Alabama has much to brag about either. Alabama deserved to play Boise St....Texas was only in this because of an out of bounds play with 1 second left.

Boise would have had their asses handed to them. Texas was clearly the most deserving. Anyone in the big twelve could beat anyone in the big 12 at anytime. Texas made it throgh unbeaten therefore they deserved to play Bama. Had McCoy been in the game, good bye Bama.

Gilbert hung in there, but McCoy would have dropped bombs on Bama's broken coverage all night long.

No, not at all.

Just their 13th national championship. Just doing what they had to do to get there. Just improving over last year's disappointing #4 finish. Just winning every regular season game this season. Just destroying Florida in the SEC championship game. Just overcoming a ridiculous start in the championship game. Just the school's first Heisman winner. Just this year Butkus Award winner.

They should hang their heads in shame and embarrassment.

There isn't a team in America that makes it to the level that Alabama, Texas, TCU, Boise State, etc., that hasn't had breaks go their way, that hasn't worked their tails off, that hasn't had to overcome problems...you get to this point it is rarely one event or happening that determines who wins or not. And they all had seasons that were charmed, and accomplishments of which to be proud.

Say what you will Bama fan, I don't care for either team, I just like football. Your team is the first * team of the decade. You beat a crippled team, so what. You might be the best in the nation, you probably deserve to be ranked #1, but your championship game was tainted in most folks view (except SEC fans).
