I'm much less worried about the Big 12 CCG, should we get in. Neutral field being in Dallas this year, plus the opportunity to earn one of the rare Big 12 championships for Mack Brown will be plenty of motivation for the kids. If we get there, we will roll.
Exactly...in big rivalry games...like this one, Alabama-Auburn, or Florida-Florida State...you can just about ignore the current team W-L records and any usual expectations. Anything can happen.

I find it kind of cool.

Now, I'm a fan of the classic uniform along the lines of Texas, Alabama, Penn State, etc... Texas also will play in one of the "combat" Nike uniforms, but it is very similar to the current Texas road uniform... so not too bad. OU will play in a Nike one with a white helmet, which looks kinda strange to me for OU.

In general, I think the Nike Combat unis are meant to appeal to younger folks.. like the players & potential recruits.. and I think they go for that stuff. Oregon has been doing that for years; I wouldn't be surprised if those unis have swayed a few recruits recently... as ridiculous as that seems...
You're right, they have swayed recruits. People who laugh that off are not very up-to-date on our younger generation. Sure, recruits want to go to a winning team and be able to play there, but they are also 18 year old kids that think about girls, football, and girls. Besides, it's not like the Ducks are a losing program that have not had success ever. LeGarrette Blount said one of the big reasons he chose Oregon over Florida State was because of the unis...this from a kid from Mississippi.

Here is a clip of a running back from Canyon Del Oro H.S. in Tucson who apparently likes the unis.

I agree, black pants would look better than grey with that particular uniform. I don't really care what they wear as long as they beat Utah, Go Frogs!!!

Black pants can look REALLY bad if they don't have a big stripe or something. Look at the Baltimore Ravens one day. It looks like they are wearing dancing tights.

Which team is/was first to play in the combat unis? I'm curious if they are doing better in them, the same, or if they are a jinx.

Go Frogs!

Texas should be very worried about A&M I am an Aggie and the only team that A&M gets hype up to play aganist is Texas. A&M beat them like 2 out of the last 3 years. I think it has more to do with Texas lack of respect for A&M.

Texas has struggled in a couple of games this year...Florida and Alabama have both struggled to squeak out wins in several recent games. I'm feeling like at least one of them will be upset before it's over, and there will be all kinds of controversy about the undefeated teams versus the 1-loss teams.

If the Aggies are still playing like they did against the Hogs, I don't think the Longhorns will have any issues.

Default College Football: They've got their number

When Northwestern upset Iowa last weekend, the defeat of the 9-0 Hawkeyes sent ripples through the upper echelons of college football. Maybe it shouldn't have. Since the days when Gary Barnett coached the Wildcats in the 90s, NU has had Iowa's number. The Cats have been 7-5 against the Hawks in this current era.

Then there is always Notre Dame. Until recently, the Irish had something like a 200 game winning streak over Navy, dating back to before the Catholics landed on Plymouth Rock.

So one has to ask, which series in college football truly deserve the "they've got their number" award, either because...

* the unexpected happens and Northwestern beats Iowa with some degree of regularity when the opposite should be taking place

-or-

* the Notre Dames of this world beat up on a hapless foe year after year with numbers of consecutive wins closing in on 3 digits.

Whether it is the unexpected edge or the sheer dominance, who has whose numbers????????????????????
