Blount's blind sided hit on the opposing player was egregious but might have been excused to some degree due to the provocation and the heat of the moment, but the inability of Blount to control his temper even when being restrained by his fellow players, coaches and the police was beyond the point of any possible excuse. His actions, on national television brought disrepute upon his team and the institution for which he played. To me that justifies fully my opinion that he should receive the harshest penalties the school could mete out.
You can say that we should have read your views on the subject, but thats just it, those are YOUR VIEWS. Those are not the standards in currently in place for college football. For them to kick him off the team when I know for a fact there will be players who have been arrested for DUI will be playing this season is hypocritical.

If you had READ the post I was calling the Pac-10 and University of Oregon the hypocrites, thats why I said THEM, not YOU.

He had his " 15 minutes of fame " and as the season progresses he will drift into obscurity.
A shame cuz unlike a season ending injury, he did it to himself.
Yup, and his NFL Draft stock just took a huge hit, probaly even gone? Do you think teams will still look at him even though he woudn't of played in a long time? Yeah he can still practice and do activities but you can't simulate a real game.
That's a lot harsher punishment than I expected. It's a classless act and it definitely deserves a suspension, but a whole year for one punch is a bit much.
That said, I'm surprised at how many people are defending him. So what if the Boise State player was talking trash? You get in the guy's face and talk trash back. You don't wait a couple of seconds till he turns away and then sucker punch him, knowing he's not going to have a chance to hit back. It was a weak move and he deserved anything the fans said to him afterwards.

He seemed to have handled losing just fine until that dude came up to him(with a smile) and hit his pads while apparently talking trash...you dont do that and you especially dont do that to a kid who has shown signs in the past of being UNSTABLE

You don't run your mouth so much like that either all week. It shouldn't matter if he has shown signs of being unstable in the past. Thats his problem, he should handle it. You can bet if Oregon won, he'd do exactly the same thing.
EDIT: And just because hes shown signs of being unstable in the past, you expect everyone to leave him alone, while he can run his mouth during the week and everyone just sit back because he has been unstable in the past. Please.
