As I watched this game all I could think of was that I was watching two lower level schools play. Anyone who still argues that TCU should have been in the national championship conversation is looney, and the same goes for Boise St. These two QB couldnt throw a damn out route across the field to save thier lives. They booth looked like a tired Chad Pennington. The defnses played well, but heck the offense wasnt that impressive so how hard would they have been to stop? Both of these teams would have gotten destroyed by Alabama, Florida, or Texas. Finally the nation can see these two schools are benefactors of lame schedules. They are not ready for the BIG TIME!
Man please, if we are talking about the same Boise State team we saw last night, they would get THRASHED by Texas, Ohio State, Florida or Alabama.
Chill out on your clear sampling bias. There are examples of small schools playing at very high levels in big bowl games. Noone can say with certainity what would happen unless you played the games (i.e. playoffs), which is what most of us want, not just Boise in the BCS "title" game.
there were a lot of really good opportunities for the boise QB last night, he was just a little off .... which happens - doesn't take away from him having an oustanding season though
every team will play in a couple tough games .... if TX beats bama the way they beat nebraska does that discount the win?
People were making the same comments about Utah until they whipped Alabama's ass in the Sugar Bowl.
Now that TCU and Boise have won some bowl cash, they can work on upgrading their team to play even better. Automatcally blocking teams out of the big money games because they aren't a big name school is nothing more than a ploy by big name schools and fans of big name schools to keep the big money feeding their programs so that they can stay at the top.
People can whine, but again, don't forget the ass whipping that Alabama took from the lowly Utah that Nick Saban said didn't play in a "real" conference. The joke was on them.
The best college teams have the best high school recruits.
( look at the top 10 list of colleges getting the highest ranked recruits)
Same with the pros, a team lineup that is filled with last round draft picks ain't gonna be in the Superbowl.
When we see TCU, Boise State, or Cincinatti landing the top high school recruits in the nation, they will be able to competewith the " big boys".
