You most likely can count them on one hand but if there was anyone who deserves to be named the 2009 Heisman trophy winner it would be Ndamakong Suh! The guy is a heck of a defensive lineman!

I agree, but I hadn't seen the rest of his games, but he was a beast against Texas.

I've seen 3 others, my sis and brother in law was at the one at Folsom Field in Boulder (game after Thanksgiving), said he was in CU's backfield all game long. The games I saw were on Fox Sports Rocky Mtn. He looked awful good from what I saw.

I read about all the Heisman candidates ( their accomplishments and a short piece about their drawbacks.

The drawback about Suh was that in 2 Big 12 games he " hardly showed up" and was a non factor.

One of those games was Iowa State and the other either Texas A+M or Texas Tech

He's #1 in the draft regardless.

"You can keep the Heisman, I'll take the 40 mil."

They simply did a good job of double and triple teaming him. Usually when that happens, the other front 3 step up and are free to make plays, and usually they do.

Texas Tech probably did the best against Suh. That's one thing people don't give defensive lineman credit for, when they are double and triple teamed, they are having a continuous impact all over the field by getting the attention of additional personel.

The ONLY reason Suh did not win the Heisman, is because Nebraska did not win the Big12 title and most of all was not in position to play for the BSC title.

I truly believe it wasn't so much because he was on defense, but because he wasn't playing for Tex, Flor, Bama, etc.

The Heisman has really become a joke in the last 20 years, it goes to the guy who makes exciting (offensive) plays for a BCS contender and is on TV a lot in the Eastern markets.

Oildog is right. As is the case of the BCS, IMO politics has corrupted the selection process for the Heisman.
