How is your opinion more valid than an unscientific survey?
It isnt so much an opinion but rather over 30 years of lifetime experience. I give you that that is not as reliable as a random sample survey that follows the scientific method but I assure you that it is more reliable than the half ass website you posted.
Kansas City is KU city with a fair amount of MU fans. But, by and large it is primarily KU. Anyone that lives here will admit to that even if they are an MU fan and it hurts to do so. Lawrence, KS is practically apart of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area while Columbia, MO is 130 miles away.
When you get down into the southeastern part of Kansas City along with I-70 corridor, you might find more MU fans but other than that, it is KU all the way.
Hell, I have a couple of friends that went to MU and they are KU fans. If that tells you anything.
How is your opinion more valid than an unscientific survey?
Per se, no. But this survey allows multiple entries from the same contributor. Furthermore, it states:
30.5% of cities have 1 or more contributors3.6% of cities have 10 or more contributors0.2% of cities have 100 or more contributors
So, 30 percent of cities have less than 10 contributors. That just doesn't seem to provide enough responses upon which to draw meaningful conclusions. And given what I stated previously about one person being able to provide multiple entries, thus really skewing the results, this thing is about as unreliable as it comes. So, yes, in this case I would trust the opinion of a KCMO lifer.
Finally, my experience in college statistics tells me that if you tried to provide this site as a source of reliable data, you would likely get an F on your assignment.
As others have pointed out, the Big 10 would want the expansion member to be either in a current Big 10 state or contiguous to one. Tennessee obviously doesn't meet that criteria. Missouri does.
UConn is not a possibility. Big Ten rules require that any new addition to the conference has to be in a state that borders a state with a current Big Ten school. Connecticut does not border Pennsylvania, so no school from that state is eligible.
I would amend the rules to pemit UConn entry, if UConn expressed interest. Strong academics/athletic programs + access to 2 new/large media markets = prestige & big bucks.
On Espn they keep saying Pitt, if i was the Big Ten why would you even want Noter Dame these are not you Grandfathers Irish. How bad would Noter Dame look in a down Big Ten? They would go 5-7 in the Big Ten.
