Medical Coding/billing School
Hi everyone!!
I am looking to further my education and I am interested in the Healthcare Field as a Medical Coder/Biller. I would just like to know a cost effective school that I should attend where I will be able to get my certifications and get a job. I have been to New Horizons and they are talking really well about their program but I think it is too expensive and they do not offer Financial Aid. I really would love to attend the school. At Central Piedmont I looked briefly and from what I found I will only be able to get my Coding Certificate not my Coding and Billing. I have also been looking at the online schools but I didn't know if they were legit. HELP!!! anyone that works in the field or no someone would you please give me some advice on which way I should go. Thank you!

Have you checked with your local community college? They are usually pretty reasonable and you can get financial aid.

If you go to the website: MT Chat there is a section for medical coders/billers - you may be able to find some info there. I'm not sure if you have to register with the site in order to read the posts...hope this helps!

Our local university has regular night classes in coding. This may be a good choice for you. The classes are much longer than day classes, but you finish the course in less time.
Perhaps there is something similar near you.

Apply to CPCC, take your placement tests, and look at the certificate claases that are offered as part of the Diploma/AAS Medical Assistant program of study. If you are a NC resident, that's your best bet! I can't recall how it's set up, but it would behoove you to go that route first. The testing counselors are well versed in those programs and will set you up with an advisor. Better yet - try Respiratory therapy - more demand. I'd hurry though; classes start ~August 13th.
