I buy enough hats and t-shirts from my alma mater every year to qualify as a donation....LOL. I'm on that never ending search for the perfect hat and t-shirt. I'm just a picky guy :P

I work at a mediocre job making 70k (in Atlanta). If I went to an ivy and majored in the same things/same activities I would be making 6 figures and on track for greater jobs. Currently, I have to go to graduate school while working to get into any decent job.

What's really sad was that I got into Duke and didn't go because I thought the price tag was too much (too rich for financial aid, so my parents would be paying the 60k/year. too bad I had no foresight back then). You either pay now or you pay later. I went to a terrible college, so now I get to work harder than average for the rest of my life.

...life...
Where your degree came from has nothing to do with why your Making only 70k.

I would (almost) kill to make 70k! My degree earned me a whopping max of $29k after 3 promotions I sat right next to people with GEDs and other people with masters degrees. This was during the brunt of the recession. I switched to a trade because that's what I'm really good at and still stuck making 30k. I'm tryng something different now, and just have to find an employer that will give me a chance to display my talent. I have an engineer friend who hasn't designed and built the things that I have in my garage. I've sold nearly everything and moved away for better prospects which is what landed me here on C-D.

Overall degree programs are a scam.

**** no. I graduated in 2011 and am still paying student loans. The way they screwed me with aid packages means they'll never get another cent from me and I would encourage people not to go there.

PS actually burned my diploma though I did get a postgrad degree and now make good $$$, I feel like my undergrad institution was a joke.

I worked for my alma mater a long time. If they wanted me to donate, they'd have paid me more.
