Foreigners find PH education cheap | Inquirer News

If I don't have a good job or much savings I'd send my children to study in the Philippines. Maybe you can rent an Apt for 10,000 pesos a month, Food would cost 8400 a month, allowance 20,000 pesos a month.

XE.com has exchange rates.

If my children want to be a doctor or dentist I'd let them study at UST in Manila.

They might want to stay there if they want a job after graduating.

Even students are going to offshore now? Why doesn't anyone get that outsourcing overseas is no good?

I have hired several graduates from the major universities in Manila and found their educational standards to be pretty good.

I think that most Americans would benefit from a year or two at a foreign university as opposed to those "semester abroad" type programs.

You don't want to work the low wages in the Phillippines! Even a minimum wage job in America is better!

Look at these wages! http://myjobstreet.jobstreet.com/car...param=||ph||ph

Outsourcing education is good compared to outrageous student loans at many EXPENSIVE US colleges. I view it as a rebellion to the unaffordability of an American college degree.

Here's a Phillippine Education quote on my spreadsheet:

room 12,000 [where to find?]
food 12,400 = 400 pesos per 31 days
utilities 2000?
transportation 1736 = 56 pesos per 31 days
allowance = 16,000 pesos per month

total = 44,136 pesos or at 44 pesos / dollar = $1003.09 per month

$363.64 per month is allowance

Flip college tuition = $1000 to $2500 per year!

I wouldn't go bankrupt paying for my son to be a doctor or dentist!

Right now we have a house in Quezon city on my cousin's lot so I wouldn't have to pay rent! So my son would take a jeepney and trike to UP college nearby or he can bike there!

I will probably go to Europe to get my Master's degree. I'm a dual citizen, so it's easy for me to do. Why pay several thousands per semester when I don't pay anything there? If you have to opportunity, I would say go for it. There are even quite a few Universities there that don't charge anything even to non-EU citizens. Or if they do, it's still lower than here. Private Universities is a different story.

That's fine. It's just different to see Americans supporting offshoring/outsourcing. Usually you see it the other way around.

I'm honestly fine with it. It's just that many complain about offshoring. My statement above was really meant to be sarcastic. Glad to see some people are for it.

How is the system set up that you go for free? Seems like with the financial issues over there that isn't something that will be like that for much longer.
