I appreciate the above two posters who are reaching out to prospective students but I think this thread works better if people just ask about certain schools instead of posters offering to help on specific schools. Maybe there's another way to do that?
Can anyone suggest schools? I feel like I'm at a stand-still
I just want the school to be within a few hours of NYC (3ish) and have an education major, no SUNY schools.
There are so many schools within 3 hours of NYC it would be impossible to list ........ hundreds of them
However, I would still highly advise against anyplace that is going to cost a lot of money to you if you are going into education - best to find a place that can help you get a job where you want to work and not have a debt load that a teachers salary cannot offset ..... especially since teachers often have to go out of pocket for items as well
I couldn't wait to get out of NY and pretty much discounted every SUNY school .... although I received a great education and am really happy where I am now, looking back it was foolish ...... would be really nice to not have any student loans right now and I have no doubt that my abilities would have guided me in a similar path

Why no SUNY schools, given that they would cost less? Are you settled in terms of the type of campus that you are looking for?

I already know the SUNYS I'm applying to lol. I don't need any suggestions on those because I've done my research.
I want either suburban or urban area, with campus housing and easily accessible by car or within walking distance from stores/ city ( not in the middle of nowhere please) So far the schools I har seen, I seem to be leaning more towards sports oriented, suburban area schools w/ a "real" campus

Often the "middle of nowhere" schools have shuttles to the larger cities or more often have what you need right on or near campus, within walking distance of campus. I think the problem you are having with selecting colleges is that from what it sounds like, the kind of school you want really is in the "middle of nowhere" yet you aren't visiting those schools. Go visit some and see what you think. You may be pleasantly surprised at how much is there for college students because they are not close to a big city.
I've visited SUNY cortland and it's in the middle of nowhere and I hated it. The town sucked and I couldn't visualize myself in a place like that. I want a place maybe like SUNY new Paltz or like SUNY Albany
