University of Georgia vs Georgia State University for Speech Language Pathology Masters
Has anyone ever attended either school for this particular degree or hired graduates from these programs? If so, what are your impressions as far as preparedness?
I am interested in attending both schools except GA State is significantly closer to where I live (HUGE PLUS), but I hate traveling downtown Atlanta via car. I know Marta is an option, but with volunteering and doing clinicals, having a vehicle on hand is very appealing. GA state just gives the impression to me of a commuter school without much connection to people. I want to socialize a lot.
UGA seems to have a more college/university "look" (Based on pictures I've seen) of a real campus, although I haven't visited their campus, yet. I want to feel connected to my fellow students and the surrounding community. Basically, I want my experience to feel more emotionally fulfilling... like family, if that makes sense.
I know both programs teach speech language pathology from the education and medical perspectives, however, I prefer the more medical aspect. I want a quality education that won't break the bank.
Does anyone know which school or cohorts is/are more accepting of students over 35? Which school is more accepting of mixed raced students? I want to be in an environment that will accept diversity and be respectful of others. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

One would assume UGA has to have a superior program.

My first impression would be that UGA has many more traditional college kids, and you would find more people your age at GSU. But, I do have a friend who recently graduated from UGA at the age of 41 and had a good experience there. She does, however, live in the area.
Race won't matter one bit.
