Maybe they will replace us all with robots
I am surprised that McDonalds has not put in a relatively simple voice-recognition system and a bill machine.... Sort of obviates the "do you want fries with that?" person.
While service industries provide a useful, well, service, they don't tend to make this country strong (JMHO), but they will keep you fed. This country (well I am not even in the states now) needs innovation, invention, ideas, concepts and manufacturing to keep it strong. Personally, I see that rapidly eroding.
I would ask what you majored in (maybe I missed it in another post), but actually it isn't really any of my business.

Oh THAT was a good reason.

I was taught "Do what you love to do in life, as a career, but make sure it is a marketable skill".

Many of my engineers went off to get business degrees (like Sloan, Harvard etc). Now they have their own brownstones in Boston. Not to get personal, but where did you mess up? JMHO.

My daughter was looking at colleges when she was about nine years old. She always loved school. She's now 20, will be a senior next year and is looking at grad school.

Unfortunately, I had to divorce her father when she was around 8, and I didn't have the kind of income that allowed me to save for college. She is taking out loans, I am taking out loans, and her father, who did backflips to not pay child support, is taking out loans, too. For some reason it's manly to pay for your kid's college, but not manly to support her as a child. I don't get this mentality, but it doesn't matter, lol. I'm glad he's stepping up even if it's late in the game.

She got a partial scholarship the first year when she was in a private school, but then she switched majors and transferred to a state (out-of-state for us) school that had a better program. She did study abroad last year for a semester on a complete scholarship, so that helped.

I'll be paying the loans off for a long time. It's worth it to me.

There are people with every major possible that don't have a job. A business major stands a much better chance than many degrees these days.
