Hello,

I'm currently thinking I'd like to move into a job as a geneticist if possible. I just turned 26, and am currently an actuary. I currently only have a BA in Astronomy, minors in Math & Physics. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any lines of work where I wouldn't have to go back to school for a PhD? Maybe I could be a statistician & be of use? I'm just really fed up with my current job, and I absolutely LOVE genetics. At 26 though, I'm not so keen on going back to school fulltime, especially considering my high student loans I'm still paying off from undergrad (not to mention, I'm within a year of obtaining my ASA, & I've been studying my butt off for that for the past 3 years).

Any help would be appreciated

Honestly no. There are four types of geneticists obviously you cant be a clinical geneticists, but being a genetics counselor, laboratory geneticists, or a research geneticists. You would need a M.S, Ph.D or MD. You cant get around it without going to back to school.
