I am currently in graduate school pursuing my Masters Degree in Counseling and am taking a class on diversity. This has been a great class for me and has helped me to develop a better understanding of the experiences of people of different ethnic backgrounds.
Currently I am completing an assignment on African Americans and was wondering if anyone who has an African American heritage would be willing to answer a few questions for me via email. These questions include any significant life experiences of being culturally different than the majority culture, role of religion and spirituality in your cultural identity, and experiences with racism or discrimination.
If you are willing to respond please Mod cut - please do not post e-mail addresses. post a reply to this thread.
Thank you so much in advance for your willingness to share your cultural experiences so that I and those in my class can learn and develop a better understanding of those we may see in our future counseling offices.
