One needs a source of income of course, but may get an identity through other means.
It's a good point. However, one has to be very strong to choose this way.

You got the advice, but you don't like any of it.

Here's the thing. Many of us, a lot older than you, have never found the perfect fulfilling thing to do or be, yet we have been forced to do SOMETHING. You, on the other hand, have been indulged, and continue to be indulged, while you sit in one place and ponder your navel. This has not helped you, it has hurt you. Other smart kids like you with drive and ambition and student loans debt will, out of necessity, be carving out their place in the world, while you stagnate, because you can.

The advice you've gotten about getting a job is a good one. More education might be helpful if you had a goal in mind, but you don't. You might find your passion out there.

You come across as entitled. Whether your family does not mind paying your way is not the point, it is that the way you write your posts gives the impression that you come across as deserving just because. I would take a guess and say that you only want a Ph.D. or 2nd Masters for the prestige.

I suggest you take your own advice:

Get a job!
The problems you have with your "life of Riley" aren't that great in the overall scheme of things.

How does this impact your motivation to get a job or go to school for your phd?

Can you apply nightlysparrows advice to your situation and find that being a freelance writer, or otherwise self-employed might be the best thing for you?

You have your answer. You didn't like it. You do have a master's degree. But not the push ot passion fr a PhD.

Feel better knowing that only 25% of Americans have bachelors degrees.

So, as they say in Brooklyn....fugedddabouit. It sounds as though it's not in the cards for you.

Best of luck.

LOL OK I lost all compassion for you. I think you should drop out and mail KT the money. Everytime I go overseas (except Paris, ugh) I have an awesome time. I think you are obviously doing something wrong. I'm dying...dying to travel again. PM me and I'll let you know where to mail the check.

Ok - final decision. I have opted to defer my entry to next Fall. Probably wont enrol, I will opt for a 2nd masters instead. I have decided to go around collecting masters degrees.
