Ok, so my question is:
What Master's degree can you graduate with where you will make atleast 50 60K and still have a somewhat flexible schedule? I want to be home atleast most nights and weekends and still be able to attend my kids games, etc. Am I asking too much?

Please help!

Default Perhaps A Master's Degree Should Be Generalized

Dear Friend:

In this changing world, it is my opinion that a Master's degree that is selected should be flexible and generalized. Hence my choice would be an 'MBA'. A Masters In Business Administration. IF one has a Masters Degree In Education - - with the purpose of becoming a school teacher - - then there is always the problem of previous school teachers staying at a given school teaching position for a lifetime. Then there is no room for 'you'. But with an MBA, if a particular 'line' of products / services are tied up with employees, then 'you' can move on to a different product, etc.

Wheaton, IL

I would say that you need to figure out what your interests are first. 50-60K isn't worth doing something that you hate.
Beyond that, I would totally disagree with the poster above. I have many friends who have gotten their Masters in Ed for this reason. Good schedule and pay increase. Maybe it's just where they live, but they have had no trouble finding jobs. MBA's require much, much more time (in general) once they are out.

You can make more than that with a two year nursing degree.

Where I used to live you HAD to get a Masters at some point as a teacher as part of your professional development. Also because of competition. In Vermont, the principal of my son's school has a Masters...not a PHD or Doctorate like you'd get in NY (I have a Masters myself).

I would imagine it would depend on your undergraduate degree and your interests.

MOT, a masters degree in occupational therapy. You will make atleast 50-60k typically more about 70K. Most OT's have very flexible schedules especially if you work in the school systems.

SPEECH PATHOLOGY! It's a field with long-term high demand, thus affording you good job opportunities, it's rated as being highly rewarding, it offers great pay (50-60 K), and it allows for an extremely flexible schedule.

I honestly had no prior interest in it whatsoever, but I've considered pursuing it myself these days because of all of the above reasons.

Most real engineering degrees will allow you to make 50-60k and have a flexible schedule, and that's without a Master's.
