Anyone know how to look for one? none of the medical companies and offices post for internships and my school has no placement assistance. I emailed the teacher that runs the internship and all I got were links to my schools website to the career center, which I already looked at religiously with no new information at all. I emailed her back and stated that I already looked at those and it was no help and then repeated my questions. people are so lazy these days! I was so offended that she ignored my question like that and just sent me links, assuming that I must not have looked at those already.
I've asked my classmates and they are stumped too. A lot of them already have jobs in the field so they are using that as their internship. The only thing I know that one person tried is, one girl knocked on doors and the first place she went, accepted her and then they hired her on before her internship even ended, but how many people get that lucky? I have my resume and cover letter prepared and a list of companies I would like to contact. but other than that...I really don't know what to do.
I have been withing in HIM for the last 3 years... when I was at my last company the majority of my coworkers were students getting their RHIT. They all have jobs now in coding, so it's a good foot in the door - that actually pays you!
Check for jobs with titles like Medical record librarian, document imaging specialist, medical record clerk, etc.
I couldn't get those jobs as a student. got the interviews but I always got the "we went with someone more experienced" crap, but at this point, I need to get the internship hours, 225 hours which hopefully will lead to a job.
