I have seen the firing of deans and other faculty and must say that this institution is hell bent on having the right people in place to teach the students and if the faculty or professor is not then they are gone and I have attended two other intstutions and I have never seen that done whether the professor was good or not. I have seen much worse that ITT and do believe that if it wasnt for them I wouldnt have the great job I have right now and im not even done yet so do the critics say to that. I feel that you will experience faults at any college institution and its all in how you handle it and how you present yourself to get ahead and another person can not dictate your future. In most big universities its who you know and how much they like you and with ITT they are trying to help you find employment for neither of the above reasons but it makes them look good when you become employed coming right out of school and thats a WIN -WIN situation if you ask me.
I dont think all of the curiculums are for the markets you are in like for example the Criminal Justice Program, why in the hell would you go to a technical school for a non technical trade?????? These are the people complaining about the school when they are the ones that decided to go to a technical school for something that was not technical at all and thats stupid if you ask me. The computer , electronics and CAD programs are the best programs to take at ITT Tech and everything else is garbage. I have had worse experiences at larger institutions which I have attended and I have come to find that its all what you make of it

>>>>> This guy seems to know the biz. ITT is a "Technical Institute" and he clearly marked the degrees with the most relevance. I am a USAF Veteran and I plan to use my Post 9/11 MGIB and Yellow Ribbon Program to attend ITT for a BS in Electronics Communications Engineering Technology. With those exclusive benefits the tuition is virtually free. I've already earned 57 credits from the technical Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and 90 credits from University class. I reached my technician grade journeyman level in 'Satellite, Wideband, and Telemetry Systems.' I like the broad scope or "sounds" of the electives and core classes listed on ITT Richmond website for easy access. I would like to add I compared Phoenix for IT networking and telecommunications. I just think that sounds so office boy! I can picture myself in a cubicle! I took 20 credits from UW Milwaukee in Information Resources and it felt like Library Science. I need the fresh air and a garage people. This is more industrial oriented. I might even try for my Associates at ITT in "Visual Communications" or "IT - Multimedia Apps" to put the icing on the cake. I always wanted to be an inventor. This would help with the conceptual framework skills necessary to 3-D model and replica making. With Google SketchUp fast replacing AutoCad it has become a lot more intuitive and fractal. That wraps up my reply to bigappledream and further analysis of ITT Technical Institute. I hope to be working in the Defense Industry with my fast evolving discipline in a few years. I hope they have some GS-5 /7 spaces open for me with some promotion potential. I know the industry is pretty big on the east coast. I'm fresh from Wisconsin to Virginia starting my first quarter as a transfer student Dec 7th. Yeah they do quarters, not semesters; and the classes are typically 4 credits private school. In conclusion, if you haven't noticed the commercials are geared towards working (or out of work) adults who have some experience in the adult work force already. Some are completely changing paths while most are building on their previously networked experience. And I don't know about all this so called flexibility. I was told the Richmond ITT campus was really strict with attendance. Besides, I saw toys on my campus tour they use standard hardware diagnostic tools for electronics in the curriculum and not just overpriced textbooks; ~by the way~ ITT rents the textbooks and you don't have to use financial aid living stipend to pay for them when you really need to put food in the fridge and afford good beer and movies.

>>>> I think the BS in Construction Management at ITT is special too. I like that it is distinct from Business Management and concentrates a 'hard hat' zone of debris and twisted steel. I had a friend nailgun right into his hand on site. A manager wouldn't do that. <<<<

Go to my quote before this response to yours. I offer insight into a private company ITT (stands for International Telephony and Telegraph) that works with Defense Electronics, Fluid Controls, and Motion and Flow. This global private company owns 80% of ITT educational branch. I suggest you take that into mind when assessing your final decisions.

Man you don't need to be defending the area you want to study. It is for yourself so you know it the best. It does not exist such thing as a "bad degree". It's all about what is it good for yourself, your interest, and your life goal.

I stepped in just before "midterms". I caught 11 of the 13 students in my class cheating on an assignment... a CAD assignment, not academic. I proved the cheating to the admin, but after a few go rounds, they decided to let it go. I quit that night. I told them they had just made MY degree worthless.
|
This is unfortunately a reality at ALL colleges. They don't discipline cheating anymore.
