I know NCSU in North Carolina requires a B and nothing less for you to be able to transfer, but is this the norm?

No. The typical GPA that is required in order to transfer from one college to another seems to be 2.5 - 2.75.

I'm not familiar with that college. Since I'm not, I'm going to guess that it's a popular place for transfer students. Or, that they have an articulation agreement with several community colleges who are accepted with less than a 3.0, so they can raise their GPA.

If you don't have a 3.0, look at some other schools.

East Carolina is lower than that, for example.

It varies. All colleges my daughter has looked at (for transfer) require a grade of C for transferable units, except an art college which required a C for general ed classes and no lower than a B for classes in your major.

^^That's what I'm familiar with, a grade of "C" to transfer. But "it depends" is always the best response. The OP should check with whatever college s/he wishes to transfer to.

Most colleges I have come across require a C or 2.0 average, but it depends on the college.
