I am strongly considering a major in Economics. My career goal is to eventually teach college some day (cc or state uni), but I would like to have job prospects outside of academia as well. So I plan on pursuing at least a Master's degree after undergrad. I'm at a cc now and will be transferring in the spring of 2015 to a four-year school. UGA is ranked highest for economics in my state and it would be the cheapest, but it does not rank highly compared to other national universities for economics. Should I attend UGA for undergrad and then transfer to a more well thought of grad school or should I shoot for a well thought of undergrad? I'm currently weighing my options.

Here are my stats if you have any suggestions on where to apply as a transfer:
-42 hours (15 from AP's)
-College GPA - 3.96
-High School GPA - 2.91
-SAT - 1730

Thanks!

Most times people will really only consider the pedigree of the highest degree you have. So I'd save my money, finish undergrad at UGA, and then shoot for somewhere more prestigious/well-known/elite for the master's and PhD.

I would opt for a state school with a nationally ranked Econ program (Top 25). Check out the U of Minnesota, U of Michigan, U of Wisconsin and U of Maryland.
