We once did a detailed survey but I didn't keep all the paperwork.

Those lists are probably ok but the US news has some methodology issues.

You'll be fine at any of the top public schools in each state as well as Yale, Harvard Stanford.

Cal Berkeley (Boalt), Indiana, Michigan, Texas and Virginia are all especially good.

Best has a number of possible meanings. Someplace like Harvard me be higher ranked but it may not be best for you, especially up if you have no chance of getting in. Are you looking for a list to aspire to or are you thinking of applying soon?

There is a group of law schools known as the "T14" schools. These are law programs whose degrees are portable across the country and pry open doors to opportunities in the top firms and major government agencies that are all but closed to everyone else. The T14 schools are:

The Ivy League law schools (Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Penn, Columbia)
NYU
Georgetown
Stanford
Duke
Northwestern
University of Chicago
University of Virginia
University of California
University of Michigan.

After that, the next best law school is the highest-ranking school you can get attend for as close to free as possible. Otherwise you'll be hard-pressed to get a return on your investment in a degree for an extremely saturated and competitive field.
